St. James’ Episcopal School

Early learning with an emphasis on academics and diversity

Curriculum

Our Montessori-based curriculum

Our curriculum incorporates the teaching philosophies of Dr. Maria Montessori, Jean Piaget, and other acknowledged experts in early childhood education.

In our school, children learn to work as part of a community where they are loved, accepted, and encouraged to grow. Our multi-age classes allow students to acquire information and skills at their own pace.

To cultivate children’s natural love of learning, hands-on materials lead their curious minds and active bodies to explore abstract concepts with concrete experience, so learning is natural and effortless. Learning is also enhanced through chapel services, community programs, cultural events, and visits from community specialists.

We nurture the spiritual life of each child by beginning each day with chapel time, focusing on Christian values and teachings while acknowledging the various faith traditions of our diverse student body.
