Head of SchoolGlennie handles the day-to-day operation of the school, organizes the curriculum, works with parents, and hires and supervises the school staff. Glennie makes the final decisions regarding matters pertinent to parents and guardians.

Each Montessori classroom has a certified Montessori Guide and an assistant. There are two teachers in each afternoon class, which is center-based with thematic units. Most of the teachers hold degrees, and all are experienced.

Board
In 1998 St. James' Episcopal School became a corporation in its own right with its own bylaws and board. The board consists of 21 trustees; at least 15 are Episcopalian, and 8 trustees are from the sponsoring parish, St. James' Episcopal Church. The board operates through a system of standing committees and meets once a month.
The board has three principal functions:
- To hire the Head of School
- To raise money
- To make and monitor policy
