St. James’ Episcopal School was established in 1996 as a ministry of its namesake church. (Click here to learn more about St. James’ Episcopal Church). As an Episcopal school, St. James’ strives to be a community in which every child is cherished and the diversity of the human family is honored. Our students and their families are culturally and economically diverse, as are our faculty and board of trustees.

Our mission is to encourage the development of the whole child in a caring community for children from diverse religious, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.

In order to continue to fulfill this mission, SJES moved to a new, modern campus on Webberville Road in 2007. Situated on 23 beautiful acres, our campus offers a park-like setting just ten minutes from Downtown Austin and the University of Texas.

In addition to our highly regarded Montessori Program that educates students through kindergarten, in 2011 St. James’ Episcopal School introduced new programs to meet the needs of our families and the community.  These include a program for students starting at 18 months of age (Active Learning) and a flexible, stand-alone preschool program (Discovery). (Click here to learn more about our programs).

We are licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

We are also accredited by the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools. The Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES) is a member in good standing of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Commission on Accreditation.  It has voluntarily agreed to abide by the Commission’s Criteria for Effective Independent School Accreditation Practices and to submit to a thorough review and evaluation of its accreditation standards, criteria, and procedures.  SAES is recognized by three state agencies and by eleven Episcopal dioceses within the six states served by the association. St. James' Episcopal School is also a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools.

St. James' Episcopal School is also a member of Greenlights for Nonprofit Sucess. In May 2012,  St. James' Episcopal School earned the designation of "Four Star" program from Workforce Solutions Capital Area.

Thank you for your interest in our unique community! We hope you find the educational experiences offered by SJES are as unique as your child.
